Discarded puppy farm bitch 5 years old, terrified, covered in mange, starving and filthy.

The continuation of puppy farming means that thousands of dogs very often exist in appalling misery.

They exist for one  reason - to be bred every six months for all of their lives and make the puppy farmer very rich.

Ex puppy farm bitch, 4 years old, frightened, starving, filthy with eye and ear infections.

This is purely a greed industry, there is no place for basic welfare, never mind love, companionship, fun, training or cuddles. The dogs will never see a vet and the milk of human kindness is in short supply. Congenital defects are not considered - heart disease, hip dysplasia, eye defects etc.

Their accommodation can be any container that will act as a prison, crates, sheds, caravans and broken down cars, all totally unsuitable and not conducive to comfort. Freezing cold in winter and very hot in summer. The agenda is to minimize expenses and maximize profits at the cost of the dogs misery.

*  These dogs live on stone floors in filthy sheds

When the continuously bred bitches no longer produce enough puppies or kill them because of mental illness they are no longer viable. Then they are disposed of, the lucky ones are shot, the others are fed to their surviving friends after having their heads kicked in.

* Cocker Spaniel

It is difficult to put into words the horrors these dogs have to put up with. The stench of months of excreta, the cold wet, dark stinking holes they exist in. The fleas, the ear mites , the mange, the diarrhoea, unattended  weeping , rotting sores on flesh that is already weakened by infection. The fearfulness of the human touch, the readiness to accept a kick, starvation and lack of clean water and bedding.

*

They never see a living soul except for their jailors, who take their pups away, sometimes as early as four or five weeks old, when they are collected by dealers and start their own horrendous journey to the outside world.

The reader may be reading in silence, consider the wailing of a pup who has been taken from its mother too early, then consider a litter of pups, consider a van load of pups, twenty or thirty crates, all screaming for their mums  and consider several van loads.  The screaming pups and their upset and wailing mothers and surrounding sympathetic females is a scenario straight out of the gates of hell.

How can these drivers travel down the motorway with these loads of misery??

Is the promise of financial reward enough to disregard their pain??

Many never make it to the waiting consumers, suffocating in unsuitable, unventilated vehicles. In overcrowded and soon filthy conditions only the fittest will survive.

Other farm animals can expect more compassion and have more rights. Why cant mans best friend enjoy the same??
