No more tears, Jenny
Jenny's picture the first time we got her
No more tears, Jenny Jenny
was 4 years old when we got her. She was a breeding bitch that was rescued by
Many Tears. She was a small, nervous and scared Yorkshire terrier, the first
time we (Mick and Adi) saw her in her foster home near Bristol. We were fond of
her but we were also worried what would happen if she does not get on with us.
Her condition was not perfect but it was not too bad. Her ears were almost
completely bald with some scars, and also on her nose. Her tail was more like a
rat tail because there was almost no hair on it. The
journey from her foster home to our house in Yateley was fine. Jenny was sitting
quietly on my (Adi) lap. When we arrived home, we took Jenny straight to the
back garden. We did not realize that the first problem was about to come. Jenny
was running around the garden and looking very nervous and scared. It was
difficult for us to take her into the house because she did not want to get
anywhere near us. After almost an hour she was finally trapped in a corner.
Jenny even bit me when I tried to stroke her head but we tried the best we
could to understand her situation. The
first evening she was with us, she did not want to walk around the house. She
prefers to hide under the display cabinet. I tried to come to her because I
thought maybe I can lift her up and give her a gentle stroke to calm her down,
but something worse came up. She made a mess quite a lot on the carpet because
she was very scared and nervous. Time
went by. After a week she started to explore the house and got used to doing her
business outside the house, although we have to use the lead to take her outside
every hour. She
was still scared and nervous after a month living with us but she seems to get
close to me rather than Mick. We did not have to use the lead every time we wanted
to take her to the back garden anymore or even when we took her for a walk in an
open field because she would always follow us. We introduced Jenny to some other
dogs belonging to our neighbors and she got on very well with them. She even
fell in love with one of the male dogs named Alfie. Day
by day Jenny becomes more confident and very nosy. She cheers up the house with
her cute innocent look and behavior. She becomes the source of our happiness.
People always stop by for a while to cuddle her or to give her a compliment
about how cute she is, when we take her to the public places. We are glad that
Jenny looks happy. She gained weight quite a lot since the first time we got
her. She was 3.8 kg and now she is 5 kg. The hair on her ears and nose has
perfectly recovered and now looks beautiful. She is now our little tiger.
Jenny's
picture after 2 months We
saw the pictures about the dogs that have been used for breeding in Purdy’s
website. We also read the story about how they live their lives and how the
farmers treat them. We were touched, angry, sad but ashamed at the same time
because the one who did it or is doing it is called human. We hugged Jenny and
stroked her for a while, hoping that she is now happy. We can only give her what
we think is best for her, and hope that there will be no more tears for or from
her. After 6 months with us, Jenny now has a friend a poodle named Mitzi. We just got Mitzi a few days ago when we wrote this story. We will post the story of Mitzi sometime later. If you want to have a dog, please consider to adopt a rescued dog. They deserve a second chance to live a happy life. Patience and love are all they need. Once they trust you you’ll get back the love, loyalty and happiness that you gave them. Probably much more.
Meet
Mitzi If
